Karen Clippinger

Karen Clippinger has a master’s degree in exercise science and her life-long work has focused on application of scientific principles to enhance technique and reduce injury risk. She is professor emerita at California State University Long Beach, where her course topics included anatomy, body placement and Pilates for dancers.

In the past 25 years Karen has utilized Pilates repertoire to work with a wide range of individuals. In 1992 she helped develop the Pilates-based Dance Conditioning Center for Pacific Northwest Ballet, and from 1993-1999 she developed and taught the Pilates Program at Loma Linda University Medical Center. She has also consulted for the U.S. Weightlifting Federation and U.S. Race Walking Team. Ms. Clippinger has given over 400 presentations in various countries and in numerous cities in the U.S. including at conferences for Pilates Method Alliance, Balanced Body, BASI Pilates, and International Association for Dance Medicine and Science.  She is the author of the textbook Dance Anatomy and Kinesiology, co-author of the book Pilates Anatomy with Rael Isacowitz, and has various classes on Pilates Anytime.
