Sondra Karman

Sondra Karmon, BASI Senior Faculty, has been teaching Pilates for 30 years. As a classical ballet dancer, she began her Pilates training to enhance her performance-strength and stamina. Later, getting a degree in Dance Medicine Therapy, she began her career as a Pilates instructor in BASI Pilates. She also worked as a rehabilitation Pilates instructor in collaboration with Chicago surgeons, assisting patients' recovery after surgery.

Sondra has been running her own studio, Body Balancing Pilates, in Chicago for more about 20 years. She has been working with Body Gears, which is the largest physical therapy center in the United States, to create precise movement patterns with specific body mechanics through Pilates. Her professional practice reaches far beyond general clientele to include members of the local dance community, physical therapy patients and professional athletes, all of whom are looking to maximize their physical well-being. Sondra's passion for Pilates, her commitment to learning and to mantaining the highest professional standards had led her to become BASI Senior Faculty, and now she is in charge of instructing a BASI course for therapists and doctors in the BASI Pilates headquarter.
